Day Five

Monday, March 7th, 2005

Wow – my first outing today – Daddy and my Nan and Grandad took me back to the hospital to see the Pediatric Nurse. She was very pleased with me and loved my new hairstyle I had done when I was “inside”. My left foot is a little turned in as I was lying on it when I was “inside”. Each time I have my nappy changed, Mummy or Daddy has to turn my foot out each time, and in time it will fall straight.

I was also told I was a little ‘jaundice’ – yellowing of the skin. Nothing to worry about, just need to get them rays from the sun and I’ll be right as rain.

Mummy also started to produce real milk for me – yummy, no more of that weird fluidy stuff she was producing before – now the white stuff.

My Daddy had me officialy registered today at the Registrar office in Frimley. I am officially known as William Arman Norris now and have the certificates to prove it.

In the afternoon, Daddy took me out in his new car to his work place to show me off. Now, I don’t really remember much as I was fast asleep during the trip, but I know a lot of Paul’s work friends were very pleased to see me.

Day Four

Sunday, March 6th, 2005

I woke at 6am, had a feed, then back down again until about 8am where Daddy placed me on a pillow next to him and we both slept in until about 9.30am.
Today is Mother’s day and I got my mummy a mothers day card – she was really pleased to receive it. Auntie Karen came over and everyone had a roast dinner.

It is also Mummy and Daddy’s anniversary today. I learn that I was due to be born today, that is why they have given me my middle name of Arman, which is Turkish for “gift”.

Lots of visitors and phone calls – it’s all very exciting.

Day Three

Saturday, March 5th, 2005

I woke early, letting my parents know I am here by letting out a little cry and then giving them the stares with my lovely eyes.

Breakfast was lovely, thanks Mummy. Then a torrent of visitors came and saw me, as well as phone calls from family and friends.

At 09.30, Lynne, the midwife came and saw me. She gave me the once over, checking that all was well. My cord was healing nicely. She also noticed that my tongue was tied. This was not causing me a problem as I was getting my feed from Mummy’s breast okay.

After Lynne left, I was given my very first bath by Mummy, Daddy and Grandma. It was fun and it didn’t make any fuss whatsoever. The water was the correct temperature and my cool hair was washed again. I loved it.

I slept most of the day only waking for visitors and my feeds.

In the afternoon, I was introduced to my paternal grandparents. They had flown from Spain just moments before to see me. I was honoured. Both grandma and grandpa were very proud and overwhelmed to see me, it was an emotional moment for us all.

Dinner was lovely again, thanks Mummy and then in the evening I managed to get an hour or so here and there for sleep letting my Mum and Dad get some rest. Then from 2am through to 6am I slept through.

Day Two

Friday, March 4th, 2005

I woke up to find that I was in a different room. I had done a big poo in my pants. Mummy was comfortable in bed and Daddy had just left to go home to get some food and my car seat – all I was thinking was – "Gucci" & "Prada", it had better be a nice seat!

My poo was still black and it stuck to my Bum.

Daddy came back about 09.00 and cuddled me. I like my cuddles. Daddy informed me that he had just seen a demonstration of how to bathe a baby. I hope he gets it right first time, else I will cry lots to let him know its wrong.

I wonder if Mum and Dad have noticed I haven’t cried at all since my entrance to this world?

Daddy left about 13.00 to go home and pick up my maternal Grandma. They came back about 15.30 and my grandma was very pleased to see me, cuddling me and kissing me.

Then Auntie Karen turned up. She came in to the room and walked straight past me and cuddled Mummy. "Urm, helloooo I think I am suppose to be the centre of attention here", I was thinking. Then just like that – whamp, she picked me up and cuddled me. She could not put me down! I loved it though, and I could see everyone was happy I am here.

It was then when the midwife informed us that we could all go home tonight if Mummy was able to walk unaided. She gave it ago and she appeared to be a lot better and in control with her movements. That was good, because I really wanted to get out of here. The midwife then said that she would wash my lovely hair. About time too! I had poo in my hair still from when I let one float inside Mummy. After a wash and blowdry, I was ready to leave!

I was wrapped in lots of clothes and blankets and put in to my car seat, which wasn’t a Prada or Gucci one, but a Gracco one. I felt that this would be fine as I know I will be an expensive child to my parents.

We left and went in to Daddy’s car. He carried me all the way – he looked a very proud man walking through the hospital with people looking at me.

We arrived home and I was taken straight to the bedroom where Mummy and Daddy placed me in to my new crib in their bedroom.

My first night at home was a bit restless. Mummy and Daddy were learning the hard way on what I wanted. Most of the time I needed some feeding. About 2.00am, I poo’d my pants for the first time since early in the morning. Daddy was releaved as he thought I was constipated. Silly man, doesn’t he know it is not possible for babies my age to get constipation? Also I could go a few days with out a poo as the lovely juice I am getting from Mummy contains no waste.

After my poo, I settled down and let my parents get four hours sleep.

Day One

Thursday, March 3rd, 2005

It was about 16.00 today when Mummy’s contractions started. I knew this was the time for me to leave the warm surroundings of Mummy’s tummy. As the contractions grew more stronger and more frequent it was time for her to visit the Hospital.

When we arrived, the small opening ahead of me was measured. This was at 17.30. The measurement was only 1cm in diameter. There was no way that I was going to fit through that! I heard the midwife say that you have at least 12 hours yet before I come out of Mummy. I wasn’t impressed. I wanted out earlier. I had made an internal promise with Mummy that I would arrive on the 3rd of March 2005.

The contractions were very strong now and the opening ahead of me was getting wider. I knew Mummy was in a lot of pain as I could here her cry. At 20.30 someone else was knocking on my door. It was another midwife measuring the gap again. This time it was 3cm wide, I saw the midwife and thought she was rude disturbing me as I was preparing my big exit.

A few hours had past and I realised that the gap was quite large now – enough to squeeze my head through! hmm, I thought, shall I try it? So I told Mummy’s body to give me a push. A few minutes later, I had a push and realised that the gap was big enough to get my head through. By this time I was really eager to get out. So much so, I felt I really needed a poo. As I thought about it more, my bowels let out the poo. Darn, I thought, now I have to swim in my own poo! I hope this won’t have to last long. It was a horrid black stuff aswell, really gonna mess up my new hair do I had done with highlights earlier that day.

Just then, woooosh, all the water and poo left me and went out the gap ahead of me – I could then see daylight. Right, I thought, that’s it, I’m not hanging around in here with out my warm water. So with Placenta in tow, I headed off down the passage way towards the light. "I can see the light!" I was thinking.

I informed Mummy’s body that I needed a push, and with one gentle push I was on my way. Darn my nails are sharp, I thought as I realised I could pull myself out of this hole. Here we go! right that’s the tip of my head out – they will see my expensive hairdo now – complete with poo on it! Another push and the rest of my body came out. I then saw myself for the first time – my what a handsome man I am, but I was covered in poo! Great, I thought, first impression my parents are going to make – seeing me covered with poo!

The midwife clamped the cord that was attached to the Placenta and cut it off. Hey, I thought that was my Dad’s job to do! Hmm, maybe they thought it would be an idea to get me out and cleaned as they saw I had poo in my eyes, nose and mouth. Good idea. Sorry Dad, you don’t get to cut my cord, but I could see he wasn’t disappointed, he was just staring at me in awe.

Next thing I knew was I was on this table with two ladies cleaning me up. I liked them as they managed to clear most of the poo off of my face. Next thing I saw was a big flash! I turned and saw what looked like the bloody paparazzi turn up taking photo’s. Then when I focused, it was my proud father taking snaps of me. So, I put on a brave face and looked at him.WAN-03032005 - 01

I was then placed on Mummy’s chest and then given a boob to suck – yeah this is what it is all about I thought.

Some snazzy clothes were put on me by the midwife and then put down for a sleep…
good night.
