Allergic Reaction

February 13th, 2007 by pjnorris

During the weekend of 3rd/4th February I got conjuntivitis. On Monday 5th, Mummy took me to the doctors who gave me some antibiotics called Distaclor (Cefaclor) 125mg in 5ml. It was strawberry flavoured. I had two doseages a day.

During the following week, I had dhiorrea, and temperatures. Therefore on Saturday 10th, Mummy stopped giving me the medicine. On Sunday, they noticed a few red blotches on my skin. Come Monday 12th, Mummy took me to see Dr Kumar and said the blotches were from an allergic reaction and therefore prescribed Puritan for me. That evening, when Daddy came home, my face and body were a lot worse. Here are some photographs:

The following morning (Tuesday 13th), the blotches had faded, but my face had puffed out.

I went back to the doctors and he referred me to the hospital for blood tests to see if I had what daddy had over 10 years ago – Stevens Johnsons Syndrome. When I got there, they didn’t take any blood and said that what I had was an allergic reaction to Penicillan. The medicine Cefaclor is 3rd in line to Penicilin. The doctors gave me some strong Piritan type medicine and by the evening my face reduced swelling and the blotches were fading.
